Africa To Alaska
By
California Photographer Don Bennett

Don Bennett is a very experienced photographer and a long time member of the Lancaster Photography Association (LPA). Don will present a digital slide program of images captured during photographic Safaris and Expeditions in Africa and Alaska and on the Platte River migratory bird flyway of Central Nebraska. He will also share his experience and techniques used in capturing the images. This will be a unique opportunity to view the landscape and wildlife in these areas through the eye of the photographer and the lens of his cameras. Sufficient time will be allowed for discussion.

The program is open to the public.

Our Mission is...

...to promote all aspects of the photographic arts and to educate, aid and benefit, by mutual cooperation, those interested in photography and the photographic arts in and around the Black Hills area of South Dakota.

A wise sage once said:

“The one thing I consistently find that connects all photographers is this passion we all have for this incredible art form. Photography is more that a job or a hobby - I think it is a special way we find to look at the world, and share our visions of the world with others.”

Recent Events
At the August meeting, member Ted Ayers took attendees on a photographic journey through the natural beauty of selected areas in the Southwestern United States. Ted’s presentation entitled “The Sierra Nevada, The Great Basin, The Colorado Plateau and The Range of Light in Color” was a multi-projector 35 mm slide show accompanied by music. The Southwestern United States is a very diverse landscape of rugged high mountains, extensive deserts and high plateaus. The presentation included images obtained over a period of many years. Most were captured in very remote areas accessible only by hiking and/or backpacking long distances.
